You are invited to join a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) group training. MBSR is an evidence-based structured training in the practice of mindfulness. Mindfulness involves paying attention in the present moment without judgement. It is a skill that can be developed with time and practice. Instructors guide participants through different types of meditation and assist with common challenges. MBSR has been shown to help decrease stress and manage hypertension, diabetes, depression, anxiety, and other chronic conditions.
As a part of Thriving Hearts, all employees and volunteers who work with pregnant women in active Thriving Hearts counties are invited to participate in live online MBSR training. Group meets with a trained instructor for 2.5 hours weekly for 8 weeks. An orientation and a day long retreat are included. Past participants are invited to return for future retreat days. A typical MBSR training costs $400-$1000 dollars. However, fees are waived through the Thriving Hearts program. For participants interested in pursuing MBSR facilitation certification (Mindfulness Instructor), this training meets criteria for completion of the first required training in the teacher pathway.

About the Study

What to Expect
- The survey is completed online and asks about your mental health, wellbeing, and work experiences.
- Your responses will help shape future efforts to support maternity care professionals across North Carolina.
- Your answers are confidential—they will not be shared with your employer, supervisor, or coworkers.
- You can skip any question and stop the survey at any time.
